Uniquely Me

There are many things that make me unique. I wear a size 11 Narrow shoe. My eyes are blue on the outside, green in the middle, and golden near the pupil. I took piano lessons for 12 years. I have moved a ridiculous amount of times. I've shot a gun, rode a jet ski, held a snake, gone zip lining and para sailing, did improv, rode on the back of a motorcycle, and went to Europe for two weeks with no phone and hotel reservations for only the first night. I learned to juggle, by a guy named Thor, at a church camp! (How many people can say that?!)

Since Thor was probably too busy to be in a photo with me, (I'm guessing), I decided to focus on something a bit more boring... my hair. I was born with a head full of thick, dark hair. My hair was straight then. At some point... I don't know why and I don't know exactly when... I started twirling my hair around my finger. I'm pretty sure it drove my poor dad completely nuts. He was constantly trying to get me to stop. I never did. I honestly think it calms me. I don't do it in public, so most people probably don't even know. I think my hair got so sick of me twirling it around that it decided "Fine! Apparently you want wavy hair!", because at some point it became wavy and frizzy.

The running joke in our house is that when the astronauts go to the moon, they will probably find strands of my hair, because my hair falls out at an alarming rate. Well, it would be alarming, if it wasn't so crazy thick. I cannot remember a time I went to a new hair stylist that they didn't remark about how thick my hair is... usually right around the time they are blowing it dry, looking at their watch and realizing their hourly rate is going down by the minute.

I have changed my hair so many times. It has been short, medium length, layered, red highlights, blond highlights, golden brown, reddish brown, burgundy, black, bangs, no bangs, permed, thinned, and straightened. Right now, it is probably the longest it's ever been. I seem to be in a constant battle with my hair, but I'm working on accepting it, because it is uniquely ME.
