Week 6: ME in Motion

About three years ago, we were at a playground on an unusually warm day in November. This particular playground is very close to our house. On that day, my husband was pushing my son on the tire swing. I was taking photos and video of both of them (of course!). Suddenly my husband got the brilliant idea to stand still in the middle, and spin Dylan around him in circles in the tire swing. His plan was to get a great shot of Dylan in focus, with the background all blurred and spinning. The pictures weren't bad, but the best part was when this happened...

I know... I know... I'm cruel, right?

It's funny how history repeats itself, isn't it? This week for the ME in Motion theme, I wanted to go to that park and attempt the same type of shot. I knew it wouldn't work with my "big girl camera", so I took my photo and selfie stick. It was bitter cold, and wind was blowing the snow around, so I got bundled up and put on my boots. I figured I would get the photo done on my way to Target to pick up some things we needed. When I got there, I realized immediately I forgot something. There was snow all over the tire swing (duh). I tried to brush it off as best as I could before climbing in the swing very ungracefully. I somehow got myself spinning and took some shots. Very quickly, I decided this was not one of my better ideas, because I was freezing. I decided to call it quits and tried to get out of the swing. Suddenly my big, size 11 boot was stuck in the middle of the swing! Can you picture me with one leg bent, the boot stuck in the middle of the swing, one hand hanging on to the swing for dear life while the other holds the camera and selfie stick up in the air, my whole body leaning over precariously as the swing continued to spin?! Yep, I thought I was going to have to call for a rather humiliating extraction. Think AAA would have helped me with that one? Somehow I figured it out, then went to Target with a wet butt, looking like I peed myself.

The upside is that at least my husband wasn't around to film me, and crack up laughing at my expense!
