Week 23: My Summer Bucket List (Member Photos)

Tausha Coates - His persistence paid off. Tonight we made smores and burned school papers in a bonfire in our backyard.

Sara Lowing-Wright - Wine tasting! Last weekend my husband and I left the kids for a night and went to the Willamette Valley. It's only 1 hour from our house; the famous Oregon Wine country. We've been maybe 3 times in the last 10 years. Little kids + wine tasting isn't a great combo. But, the kids are a bit older now and I think we can go a little more. We joined as members at two wineries, so I guess we are planning to go more ;-) It is also a fun thing to do when guests come to town and we both have family coming to visit over the summer. When you're a member you get complimentary tastings and access to the members only tasting room. Oh la la!

Jenny Parker - I have never been one for a bucket list, but Ilove the idea of them. This summer, I only have one thing in mind: Baby number two is on the way. I can tell this time is different, I haven't been reading every book I can get my eyes on about newborns and raising children. I haven't been comparing cribs, strollers, car seats, and swings for hours online, I haven't been prepping a nursery. I did buy some newborn diapers, I have been pulling out boppy pillows, and cradle sheets, and I have gone through my first baby's newborn clothes to see what this little baby needs for the first few days at home. Once we know the gender, I am certain the little boy or little girl clothes will be pouring in. I'm so excited and so nervous at the same time. I am worried for my sweet Everett and how his life is going to change. I know he will adjust and be such a great big brother!

Adriana Meixner - My babies are growing up so fast that it just makes me want to hit the pause button every now and then. My oldest will be starting jk in the Fall and my 2-year old is shedding any remnants of 'baby' on a daily basis, which makes me both sad that this time has passed so quickly and excited to see how these little humans beings evolve. When I think back to my own summers as a young child, I remember watching cartoons and movies with my older brother over and over again until we practically memorized every line. Of course we did a lot of camps and outdoor activities but enjoying some quiet, tv time to watch a summer movie was a real part of my childhood summers. My parents were often too busy to sit down with us and watch these movies, there was always something to cook, clean, work on, etc. but for my bucket list this summer I plan on slowing things down and enjoying every stinking moment with my precious little ones doing something I like to do with them. One day they'll be too busy carving out their own summer bucket lists but for now I just want to sit back, squeeze them tightly and take a pause...www.adrianameixner.com

Loren Haar - #1 on my list is spending more time alone with my husband. We just celebrated our 10th anniversary yesterday, but actually really celebrated it on Tuesday when we were able to get a whopping 10 hours of babysitting so we could get away together for the day. One thing we did together was actually a bucket list item for me: we visited the Los Angeles Arboretum so I could photograph the peacocks! Here's a selfie I liked from the day using an old mirror on the 19th century guesthouse's front porch. www.lorephotography.com

Kortney Fox - An afternoon at the lake! My husband got a Waverunner for next to nothing towards the end of the summer last year, so we did not have the opportunity to take it out much. This summer we hope to wear it out, but it is not always that easy for us to get away. When the sun is shining we are making hay, so this usually limits the amount of fun adventures we get to have during the summer. Our adventures are usually spur of the moment. This week it just so happened that we finished some of our fields early (due to an unexpected rain storm) and we quickly decided that we should be spending yesterday's 96 degree day at the lake! I can't think of a better way to spend the hot day!

Lynette Davis - Plant my window boxes and not let them "kick the bucket" this year. Ok, so I love flowers. I love window boxes and planters. This year we repainted our boxes and added really pretty (and fingers crossed some what drought resistant) plant. While I am normally very bad at keeping them watered, this year I am on schedule. Saturday mornings, I throw on my hat and go inspect and reflect. Some of my best summer memories as a child was spending the summer visiting the grandparents. Both my grandmother in Savannah and in Nashville were avid gardeners. My summers were spent watering the plants for them, drinking sweet tea, shelling peas and listening to wonderful stories. In the summer came one chore - watering the plants. They were such different ladies, but the same when it came to loving nature and me.

Jen Ostler - June is the best month of every year, when my parents come up from Idaho and spend the month with us here, adventuring in Alaska.
