Week 27: Beautiful ME
"Beauty" is such a complicated word. When I looked it up in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, it said "the quality of being physically attractive: or the qualities in a person or a thing that give pleasure to the senses or the mind". I think we tend to get caught up in the "physically attractive" part, and forget about the "qualities in a person that give pleasure to the senses or the mind". We focus so much on how we look physically, poring the supermarket shelves for that elusive wrinkle cream that will magically make us look 20 years younger, but if we stop to think about it, the things that we find the most beautiful in others are their spirits - all the wonderful, amazing, flawed but fabulous things that make them who they are.
Me? I'm friendly, loyal, supportive, kind, caring, adventurous, creative, positive, devoted, honest, open minded, adaptable, courageous, sensitive, and trustworthy. I'm a dreamer, a leader, a true friend, a loving wife and daughter, and a devoted mom. I need to stop focusing on my perceived outward flaws, and just let all the good in me shine outward. Then I will realize that yes, I AM beautiful.
