Week 31: ME & Color (Member Photos)

Diana Sherblom - While traveling last week, I saw this and knew I needed to take a photograph with it.

Emily Ingalls - When I saw this week's theme, I immediately thought of all those color runs. People covered in color and having fun while running. I took the idea and went with it after enlisting my kids to help me. I let them pick out their own colors and pick out mine. www.emilyingallsphotography.com

Meghan Nesom - My sweet boy and I have been on a road trip—I took this portrait of us on our way from Auburn to Gainesville. I figured the red Georgia clay would be great for the color image.

Kortney Fox - I LOVE color. I also love to paint. There is not a white wall in my house. I even have red and chocolate ceilings in a few of the rooms. My back deck is a rainbow of colors from not only the flowers but pots, chairs, and tables have all been painted some sort of bright cheery shade. It's been a while since I have painted so I have been looking around the house for my next project. Last week, I went to the hardware store to browse paint colors and see if it would spark anything. I came across the exterior paints and found this gorgeous purple. I just new that my front door needed to be this color. All of the parking and activities occur in the backyard so we rarely use our front door. In the 7 years we have been in our home I have never though about painting it. I can still see it from the road and down the driveway so why shouldn't it be a fabulous color? I think next week there will be some matching shutters!

Adriana Meixner - The Women in Red...this has been said of me several times in my life cause whenever I need a boost in energy for an important meeting, have a special occasion, want to feel empowered and pretty, I put on RED. You know how some colours just work for you in more ways than one? How when you put it on you immediately feel amazing and just have a glow about you...well that is how red makes me feel, EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Red nails, red lipstick, red dress, red heels...it always works, which is why it is my go to colour time and time again. Note: This picture was taken at a work function where I was the host of an event with some of our most important clients. There was no question that I was going to be wearing my favourite red dress that evening. I arrived early, partly to make sure everything was in order, and also cause I wanted to take some pictures! www.adrianameixner.com

Nicole Fortney - This is my happy place. Out in God's creation, drinking in the color, the beauty, the free open air around me. Out in nature, things seem to just go as they ought. There is still death and devastation, but somehow it seems more natural, and a bit more palatable than the atrocities that humans are doing to each other. There's just been too much of that in the news lately, and I am weary. Worried about the world my boys are going to be living in when they grow up. But here, in the midst of nature, I have a moment to breathe. They can be boys. I can be free. The worries can wait for a moment while we drink in THIS moment.

Kalen DeRoo - This was surprisingly difficult for me. My entire wardrobe is black, white, and grey. I'm currently wearing a black tank top and black yoga pants {no, I didn't do yoga this morning}. I thought of some cool places downtown that are showered with color, but in the end, I knew that I joined this project to be in the frame with my kids. So, when I thought of my girls, I immediately thought of the days my oldest would ask me to color with her ALL OF THE TIME! She used to sit and watch my husband and I color, but rarely joined in on the activity. She was our supervisor, essentially. She is a fantastic color-er, for 4, {when she isn't in a rush}. I think it's my favorite activity to do with the girls. It's quiet and therapeutic. She has reached a stage where everything is loud and dramatic. I couldn't tell you where she gets that from {please read that as sarcastically as possible}. I live for the moments we can just sit and color quietly. Today, she got up and left as soon as I pulled my camera out {sadly, we have hit that stage, too}, so her sister stepped in and helped me get this shot. Piper is around the same age as Norah was when she started showing interest in coloring. Let the therapy begin.

MacKenzie Gilliam - I LOVE color lately. Lip colors especially. I have blacks, reds, purples, nudes, silvers. All sorts of colors. It really makes my day better when I can pop on a color and rock it all day! Exactly what I need sometimes!
