Week 34: ME & Texture
A long time ago, I was an art major. I spent my days walking from drawing class to painting to ceramics. It didn't really matter what the artistic medium was. I always ended up covered in it. When I got "in the zone", I didn't think about things like avoiding messes or worrying about getting paint on my clothes. I just created. I loved the different textures - the cool smoothness of the clay, the grittiness of the charcoal, the gooey thickness of paint. I felt alive and in the moment, covered in the textures of my art. Now my artistic medium is photography. Sometimes I miss the messiness of it, and I'm not sure I get that "in the zone" feeling as much with photography as I did with painting. Maybe I should cover myself with paint before I do each photoshoot?!
